What CMS Do You Build On?

14 days kickoff → live $3K–$15K+ scope-tiered WCAG 2.1 AA baseline

The short answer

WordPress (Full Site Editing / block themes) for 95% of builds. Webflow for design-heavy marketing sites where the client team prefers Webflow’s visual editor. Next.js + headless WordPress for SaaS marketing sites with React-heavy interactive components.

№ 01The longer answer

Why WordPress: 43% global CMS market share, massive plugin ecosystem, owned (not SaaS), portable code, excellent SEO infrastructure, mature accessibility tooling. Custom block themes give us full design control with native editing for client teams.

Why NOT Webflow for most mid-market B2B: smaller ecosystem, proprietary platform (you can’t take the code with you), higher per-month hosting costs, limited at scale (50+ pages becomes painful), no built-in WooCommerce equivalent. Webflow IS great for design-led marketing sites where the team will edit visually.

Why NOT Shopify: we don’t build on Shopify for B2B / services / SaaS. Shopify is excellent for transactional e-commerce and we refer those projects out. WooCommerce handles B2B and complex e-commerce better.

When we use Next.js + headless WordPress: SaaS marketing sites with interactive product demos, complex data-driven pages, or React-heavy components. Headless adds complexity; we only recommend it when the use case justifies it. Headless costs 30-50% more than standard WordPress builds.

№ 02Why not Drupal?

Excellent CMS, smaller ecosystem, longer build times. We don’t reject Drupal projects but actively recommend WordPress for mid-market scope unless there’s a specific reason (gov/edu compliance, complex content types) to choose Drupal.

№ 03Can you build on Squarespace or Wix?

No. Both are great for SMBs but break at mid-market scale. We refer sub-$500K revenue prospects to Squarespace or Wix routinely.

№ 04Can you migrate my Shopify store to WooCommerce?

Yes. We have a documented Shopify-to-WooCommerce migration playbook. Pricing: $4,500-$12,000 depending on SKU count and complexity. ROI typically 8-14 months from Shopify transaction-fee savings.
